
R. A. Long was an American lumber baron, developer, investor, newspaper owner, and philanthropist. He lived most of his life in Kansas City, Missouri and founded Longview, Washington and Longville, Louisiana. He built Corinthian Hall (now the Kansas City Museum) and Longview Farm in Lee's Summit, Missouri

Martha Long was born in Elkdale, Pennsylvania and met R. A. Long in Columbus, Kansas. They were married in 1875 and had three children.

Sallie America was the oldest daughter of R. A. Long and Martha "Ella" Long. She graduated from Mt. Vernon Finishing School in Washington, D.C. in 1903. She later married Hayne Ellis and had five children.

Loula was the younger daughter of R. A. Long and Martha "Ella" Long. She was the most renowned horsewoman of her generation - the only woman ever to be named in the Madison Square Garden Hall of Fame. She married R. Pryor Combs in 1917. They had no children
